That’s plain cool joe! Was her face really that dark or was it just the lighting?

Due to the quota already being met a warden had to be involved and he decided it was the right call, there were 4 children under 7 years old living there. I very rarely feel a lion is a threat to people and their stock but she hadn’t left their yard in 3 days and really I can’t understand why she would even be there. Literally no cover in any direction and no snow and plenty of food in the hills above.

Caught my first start to finish dry ground bobcat today!! So very proud of the dogs, was awesome to watch the teamwork it took to catch it. Even with great snow I’ve never treed a bobcat in this drainage . I had all 9 dogs again just roading them for exercise. I managed to get it to jump out of the first tree and they caught it again in short order. :D

Man, I have had a shitty hunting winter. Ran out of money, getting stuck and having to cut a tree out to get out, blowing up locking hubs, horse got loose and herded up with mustangs, shit weather and no lions lol. I’m ready for a change of luck!
Gonna do things differently tomorrow. I’m not getting up early, gonna drop the kids off at school then head out instead of leaving at 3:30. Maybe I’ll find some bobcats to run.

Shit rowdy got yourself a hounddawgn country song right there. I’ve been doing that a bunch, not rolling out till 8 or 9 and having success. We finally got some snow , snowed late night and most of the day, found a track with only half the snow in it and just turned out my 2 youngest females, they had a tough go for a few hundred yards then it sounded like they jumped a moose made a loop and rolled down the mountain and treed 30 yards off the road.

Snow we just got is melting fast, making it hard to get around. Got stuck for the first time and had to chain up on a road I’ve been having no issues. But had a awesome day with the dogs.https://youtu.be/uEEn0cqtehM?si=X0i13jlHaFt1xZDd

That’s a really good video. Go Dutch!

My buddy just left this morning heading back to Washington state. We had a good time while he was here. I wish we could’ve hunted a little more but the weather wasn’t very cooperative and we all got sick and my illness on top of that prevented it. I think he counted 29 that we caught while he was here. No real trophies but some rank boars nearly every trip. It’s always good seeing him. He was a weight pull and conformation judge in the ADBA (pit bull registry) for long time. It’s fun talking dogs with him and getting his opinion about my dogs.

Well yesterday was a productive shit show lol. I covered about 20 miles before I started finding tracks of any kind. The wind blowing all night must have kept them bedded in that area. I cut a bob track around 2:30 and about 25 miles in. It was melted out pretty bad but the dogs took it. They covered half a mile in about 5 minutes and didn’t open once until they had it jumped. After that they treed it in 250 yards. I figure he was asleep and they trailed right into him lol.

I was a little confused when they started hammering treed. I gave them about 10 minutes and started hiking in. When I got around 150 yards away, it jumped. That’s where the shit show started. My Blue dog started opening up and took all the dogs with him. That turned out to be a jumped track from either a small female or a fox. I wasn’t able to find a clean enough track to figure it out.

After about half an hour and the dogs were now a mile further away, I headed back to the truck. I decided to go high above the tree and found the tom’s track heading the opposite direction. Eventually I got some of the dogs called back and put them on the tom track again. He took them another mile before he lost them by going up and over a bluff. They stayed below it and couldn’t work it out. Some day they’ll start being real dogs… lol
