I got a question for you guys about tracking frequencies. Im looking for a collar and was wondering what the diffrence is in the diffrent frequency.

There is no real difference as long as you have a box that will pick up whatever frequecy your collars posses. For example, some boxes will only pick up 217 so you have to buy 217 collars to match the box. My box will pick up anything from 216 to 221 so I can buy any frequency collar I want in that range. Around here most people use 217 and 219 so you can run into problems tracking someone else's dog if there frequency is close to your's. This happened to us last week during our early bear season. Our group was tracking three of our dogs the wrong way because another group had collars on there dogs with similar numbers. I use a few 220 collars to avoid this.

I asked the same question and and the way I understand it ,there is a difference the smaller you go the stronger the signal but you or your receiver would not be able to notice it . So go with what ever freq you want

thanks guys got one more question for you all. Does it matter if you use lets say a quick trac collar and a wildlife box. Or will you get better range useing the same collar and box. Sorry for dumb questions but im new and looking for the best set up.

some recievers only pick up a few frequencies--

for instance i have a mn 10 217.000 ---217 .100

217.110 -isnt going to work


some skip frequencies

ie --217.100 - .110
120 - 130
`140 - `150

so a 115 or 135 will not work ---



some will pick up whole band 217.000- ----217.999
use any 217 collar like a trx 1000

some several bands

like 216.000 thru ---220.000


i use an alinco djx10 scanner-

- works on ANY collar -need antenna to match frequency -

i dont really reccomend a scanner --more complicated- i do ok with it-- sometimes want to smash it -- lol







ive heard---marshall collar has best range--ive never used one-

We use a few different collars and recivers and they all are compatible. Sometimes it seems that one brand reciever works better. collar brands have different strengths. It seems like my quicktrack collar "tunes in" easier with my quicktrack box, but you can track any collar with any box of the same frequency.
