Re: DO NOT KNOW IF I SHOULD QUIT HUNTING OR NOT
As the hog population grows they will start having a change of heart ! But when you first start gaining permission on small tracts it is best to have straight catchy style dogs. You will need to show some caught hogs and not just running some across several peoples land. I would suggest some Curs ...

Re: Best vest I could find, need to make choice ASAP!
Custom Collars and Swamp Dawg have made some of the best that I have seen. Mine that I got from them are 3-plys of Kevlar with 1-ply of 1000 denier Codura on outside. The codura gets cut thru some times but have not ever had the layers of Kevlar cut all the way thru.

Re: pit bull breeder
I breed reg. Pits. They are of Cherokee Cheif blood line. Males and females usually average over 60+ lbs. My son is expecting a litter to hit the ground around Aug. 18th. Our stud is blue and 68lbs. and this female is blue fawn and 63lbs. Here is a pic of the male.

Re: Dogs and range
I like all my dogs to be long range. I use Plotts to track hunt with and Curs to free cast at night.
Silent
If anyone has some Curs that they do not want because of them being silent just let me know because I would be interested in them. Allan Tyer 334-488-4427

New from Bama
This site seems to be very informative so I want to be a member. I have enjoyed reading all the posts ! I am originally from central Florida but I have been in south Alabama for the last 20+ yrs. I was raised by a dogman and have taught my son the same. I have hunted deer, coon, and hogs with dogs ...

Re: All hound pack?
I hunt Plotts, Curs, and cross's between the 2. I even like crossing my Plotts and Pits for making good RCD's. It just depends on the terrain that I'm hunting on each hunt. My Plotts are open and some silent. The Curs and RCD's are silent. On the Curs I do not hunt any BMC or any other breed of ...

You can hunt dogs here in Alabama for hogs on open public state and national forest lands but not on WMA 'S {wildlife management area's}.

Re: vests
I use vests on my CD's and RCD's but not on my bay dogs. I have made collars out of leather before but never tried making vest's. I just get them from Custom Collars.com because the prices are good enough I don't figure I could make them much cheaper.

Re: DO NOT KNOW IF I SHOULD QUIT HUNTING OR NOT
Hang in there man ! Here in the south their is so many owners because most of the land is broken into small acreage's. But as the hog population rise's they will start calling you for help! I would just start out with short range, catchy style dogs they are easier to keep on small parcells.
