Congrats Phil Soucy
there has been many post on here over the years on who mounts the best lions. I think our fellow houndsman Phil Soucy proved himself again by winning the taxidermy world championship last weekend with a cougar mount. good job Phil!

Re: What makes a Bobcat climb a Tree or turn to Bay?
i find that those areas that get dogged to death like george mentioned, you catch a lot more on the ground. the cats get trained to just keep running and they will not get caught. until someone with some cat dogs comes in anyways. also a lot of it is the dogs track style. i have a dog that when ...

Re: Collared Lion killed in Montana
i can see both sides to this one. it is a nice bonus to get a collar back on a cat that was lost or collar quit working though to see where that cat ended up. but if the cat stays in the same area it was collared its nice to keep getting the data off them.i have collared cats in eastern wa that got ...

hey twist i bet you really have to be on your toes in that deep fluffy stuff to make sure it isnt a wolf.(when you are looking for a lion track). im paranoid of that. dont have them here yet but i know when i go east i walk the tracks out into the timber or under a bush or something just to verify ...

Re: I have a gray full blood walker hound pup! WHY?
i have seen three. one about ten years ago and two from different litters from a female of mine.female of mine was the old west coast type walker cat dog i bought from Elmer Blankenship as a year old dog. one breeding was to a straight house bred walker and the other to a 3/4 walker 1/4 trigg cross ...

Re: how much trigg???
i will agree with dewey. for me it is defiantely the track style. the way a good one will move an old track and smoke a jumped track.a good one in my opinion will make most "coon dog type cat dogs" look pretty silly on track. mic, pretty much all my dogs for the last ten years or so have had 1/4 to ...

Re: black bear snaring on public lands
Mike those gps collars are the same as the ones for the cougars and they last for years. i am all about more hound hunting but in reality if 8 out of the 10 bears bay and fight instead of tree like they seem to do up here , it is not safe for the dogs or bear to try to get a dart in a rank bear.what ...

Re: black bear snaring on public lands
Mic i dont know where you seen those but they have been collaring bears down south by snaring for a study. this is the third year of that. maybe different area and totally different deal than what you saw but the ones i know about are being used to gps collar and release.
