I have a winchester model 1300 with the rifled barrel and I put weaver mounts on it . The bases stay and the rings come off with the scope . You can change barrels and when you return to the rifled barrel the scope will mount with no issues of accuracy.

In Good old Ontario a hunter is required to wear blaze orange WHEN HUNTING ... other than bow hunting ... So a hound guy really should have it on or may be fined ..

Bill you are most certainly correct about accurately>> But as a guild I am sure you have met the guys that BELIEVE they can shoot 500 yards with a 30-06 and still have enough energy to kill a moose or bear . They may cause it to die , Just not today or tomorrow .
