I've been thinning out my pack of half wits and fighters, I never got out of dogs just wasted some money and a couple years on "started" and "finished" dogs and learned my lessons in the dog trading game. So now unless I've hunted with the dogs a lot and it fits into exactly what I want I'm just ...

Leopard curs in or around Wyoming

I'm looking to get another leopard cur pup if there are any around WY from good blood lines. I have a puppy deposit with Randy Oller who has a female I gave to him that he may breed eventually but was curious if anyone around WY had leopards they hunted. I'm usually not interested in older dogs but ...

Tessa
I don't know you at all but my younger brother bought your last female pup out of scarlett, atleast I think that was her name, the pup got killed by a bear at around 1 yr old, he had nothing but good things to say about you and the pup had a ton of potential. That being said I am sorry that ...

Re: Traps

Joe
I trap much more than I run dogs but I also have my dogs with me every time I check traps and have caught every dog I've ever owned without hurting a single one. Now you have to take into consideration that I'm usually very close to the dog whenever I catch one or atleast know where to go look ...

Re: what is an old cat?

I agree with houndnem in that most so called big cats weigh 120-130 lbs but not that there aren't bigger cats out there. I've been told by both outfitters/guides and top of the line hounddawgers that they are the only ones that should take females or small toms because they "have" to produce but ...

Re: Holding their scent

I watched an aquaintance's hounds which were all proven dogs from dirt lions in nevada and utah to snow all around wyoming blow up on a young tom track and when they caught up to the cat he was laying in the top of a little skeleton cedar tree not ten feet from the only trail going through a big ...

Re: lion hunting around gillette wy?

If you're only going to let him shoot a 15" tom then you might want to take him hunting in another state!!! We very rarely get a tom with a 15" skull anywhere in Wyoming even if it is lucky enough to live to maturity we just don't seem to have the genetics that produce big pumpkin heads. The ...

Re: lion season!!!

Just put nice tom up a tree 2 days ago (got lucky) and chased another the next day. I spent 5 days down in southern Utah a week ago and wish we had the country in WY that you guys have. East of Cedar City looks like some great country and it looked like there were plenty of domestic sheep on the ...

Re: lion hunting around gillette wy?

You'll find a cat or two in the Rochelle Hills and an occasional cat around the Pumpkin Buttes but north west of Gillette the Fortification always has a few hanging around and the pine ridges down by Midwest will have a few. If your set on running cats and headed for Northeast WY you might as well ...

Re: parvo

I've had the same trouble with feed store vaccines. I shot my litter that got parvo and haven't bought vaccines from a feed store since. Maybe I should have let the litter go to see if they'd make it but didn't like seeing the little guys suffer so I put them down.

Re: big hound and swollen hocks

My old walker (9 yr old) has had the same rough spots on his legs since I got him and he's never seemed to have a problem other than on long runs in crusted snow. Then the spots wear out faster than fur covered areas and don't get fully healed till the end of spring. I may be sticking my head out a ...
