Re: I need some good names for puppys

Re: running things that tree.
as long as the dog can get it done and is matched up with the others you are running with its not a problem. unless you are running in deep snow then leg helps. you said beagle size but is there beagle in it? beagles are hands down tougher than most coon hound types i've had. they can go day in and ...

Re: males vrs females
currently run two females (not spayed) and one male (who is uncut) and have never had a problem with any issues. when its time to hunt its time to hunt and thats the only thing on any of their minds. both my females have been in this season and my males hasn't so much as even smelt them.

Re: males vrs females
cool stuff. I've seen pretty much the same. The females i have now and had seemed to be "easier" to hunt. They seemed to listen better from the start but don't seem to be as tuff as the males.

Re: e-collar correction
I'm liking this thread. I have used the e-collar for many of the problems mentioned suck as teaching a dog to come, stop trashing, or noisy in the box. It is the other stuff like correcting the dog on the track that really intrigue me. Can't seem to get it through my skull how if i teach a dog to ...

Re: e-collar correction
so what you guys are basically saying is your hounds are e-collar trained when younger to the point that they know that the collar is like a "no" command?

e-collar correction
i have seen several guys on here talking about using the e-collar on their hounds when they think they are back tracking or swinging too wide on a loss.
while i'm not criticizing anyone's methods i just never heard of such a thing. mine get lit up for trashing until they are broke or on the rare ...

Re: Back down the track
alot of the cats here hit their back track a time or 2, but the ones that seem to be the worst are the ones i run over and over. i had a 6.5 hour chase this passed season and that cat doubled back move than any cat i have ever seen. he would make a loop around a knob and right back the way he came ...

Re: Bloodhound as a cat dog?
it wouldn't be my first choice but it doesn't take speed to kill game either. Around here we run them mostly in swamps, clearcuts, and rim rock ridges. so a smaller build seems to do better and not get as beat up in the brush, plus its easier for a smaller dog to keep the cat track between their ...

i'm in an area where they "see" lions all summer and fall. funny it seems to be in alot of the places that i rrun bobcats. but anyway they all must go south for the winter because they don't leave any tracks in the snow. my buddy has been running cats here for over 30 years and has never seen a lion ...
