Nice Day

Post by M Evertsen »

Went out today to see if I coud find a lion for the dogs to harass. I went to an area I haven't been for about 1 1/2 years. I didn't come across much in the way of lion sign, but I did find more deer sign than I have found in the areas I have been hunting recently. Did about a 4 mile loop in a couple of promising looking canyons.

On the way home I stopped at a little hole and pulled in a nice 15" smallie fat with eggs.

Here are a couple pics of today, dogs weren't cooperating though in letting me take a picture, so I added one from a couple weeks ago.

The first picture is the canyon I started in. The second is of where I ended, about 1/2 mile south of the first. The dogs are Sadie (red), Smokey (merle), Tip (bluetick, middle), Tyson (black and Tan).

Later,

Marcial

Thats the weird part about around here. We don't really have a migration. The animals will go up or down the mountain depending on the snow conditions. They will also go up or down depending on how they feel. I have seen deer up high and down low all times of the year. Makes for interesting lion hunting, as the deer are not concentrated too much that I have found. The sign I found today was actually pretty low. The sign I found about a month ago in another spot I have been hitting pretty hard was pretty high. Now where I was finding the deer sign in the other place, I am finding none, so who knows where the deer went off to. LOL.

Thanks for the compliments. The country I hunted today was a little easier walking that where I have been the last few weeks also.

Good luck, hope the storm leaves enough snow to find a track!
