extra long tail?

Post by OO BUCK »

My dog is an 8month old bluetick x walker She is roughly 55 lbs and has the longest tail on a dog i have ever seen. What does this mean? are some tails just really long or does it go with bloodlines. she is probably 2.1/2 ft tall at her back and her tail is about an inch off the ground.

She is logans wild clover bred if that means anything

So my question is, do This just happen or does ? as you can tell im really new to the sport

  e means cut the damn thing off if it's bothering you. on the other hand the dog maybe PROUD of her extra well endowed tail and you'd ruin her self confidence for ever if you snipped it.

I have a Clover bred male who's 10 Months old, and his tail is pretty long, but I'm thinking he's going to grow into it...

I have a 5 year old female who's tail is very long, just as you described. Never given her any problems.

One down side to a long tailed dog is when you have it on the front of your four wheeler and are standing up to look over them and the tail keeps whipping you in the face. The dog is just lucky you don't have pruning shears on the four wheeler

I have had a few hounds with extra long tails, all of them were junk!! now if I get a pup with a long tail I think I will quickly dock it so the dog wont become a cull. Too much tail means to little brains. The better dogs I have owned have cat like wiskers on there cheeks, so I look for that in a pup. I also seem to favor a all black hood on a dog.(no white line down there forehead) I guess its a lot like wearing the same jock strap for every game with out washing it. Damn superstitions!!!!
Good luck with the long tail.

kinda got a good point there, My lead dog looks like she could be half border collie. but they just don't look traditional and cool for your pics.

You don't have to bob them at the butt lol.

Every litter out of Bloody Bill gets crooked tails (He has one, it is genetic) And we bob some, depends on where they are. We did bob one at her butt, we named her Bob-up. Dirty Deed's was cut about half way or 3/4, it looked pretty cool on the little devil RIP.

I have had more people think Socki, pure black Plott is a damn Lab then anything... We yell at him when he rides with his head out, we tell him he embarrasses us lol
