Owens do it your self dog box kit's

Well I ordered one of their kits for the small dog box. Instructions are not very good and some of the dementions are off for the small box as the instrctions are the same for large and small boxes. If you build a small box read and think before you cut any wood and measure twice! For the back board it shows the measurements at 23.750" x 46" and it should be 23.750" x 38" for the small box.
I got the wood cut and all put together in a few hours. Just have to put the top on and the doors but I want to paint the inside before putting them on to make it easy'er to do it.
I'll take some pictures but it will be a few days as I don't have a digital camera.

After you paint the inside. Put done rhino sealer on the bottom. That way you seal the wood. I did that to my 1st bog box and it lasted for 4years before I replaced it. The dog box is still in good condition and now sit in my back yard instead of the truck. You can pick up a small spray can at auto zone

i just made one not to long ago and yea i was lucky on the measurement part to double check it and those directions are pretty screwy but heres a finished picture of the box i did.

I was going to get one, but the union carpenter of our group stepped up and decided to build a box for himself and some of his huntin buddies. They are based on the dog boxes in Del Cameron's book, "Call of the Hounds" with enough deck on top to work our hounds at learning to strike off the top of the box. Our buddy made the top with a 2x4 frame with the 2x4s on thier side, top to bottom so that the top is not flush to the entire top, but only touches at the two by fours and allows for great air flow or heat escape out the top without any worry of a hound squeezing out. Picture a shoebox lid with two by four sideways for the edges and two or three spined evenly across the underside of the top. We know have two folks with them and once I get rid of my dog of a Dakota will be building one myself. Time,effort and looks wise the Owens box seems like a great deal though. Another thing that has pushed me in this direction is I spend a bunch of time in New Jersey for work and would worry about the smaller size and more portable looking Owens box being taken and would like to just leave the box in there all fall and winter without worry. i can put 5-6 dogs in mine.

Is yours the small or large box?

mines supposed to be the large if i remember right but insted of being 46 long, i cut it shorter and made it 40 long.
