Sounds like this will be a good one... I'm gonna try and make it down to this one.
Didn't have the funds to make it over to the Banquet, don't have anything worth swimming either, but I'll come down and support and help out anyways.

Re: CHC WATER RACE UP DATE

Post by Dale T »

Water race's went great, we made some money for CHC, would have been nice to have more support then only about 70 dogs entered over the two days,
would have been even better if more of the CHC officers would have shown up other then only Peggy Donaldson the treasurer, No president, No vic president,
No secretary, and only a 3rd of the 12 board members,
is it any wonder that CHC has such a problem getting support and participation........WHAT THE HELL!!!  :? :x

Dale,

From your previous writings, I am led to believe that you have a fairly lengthy list of expectations for the duties of the CHC Officers and Board Members. I would be interested in understanding what specifically you expect from each member of CHC's leadership.

I would also like to understand the correlation you draw between participation in CHC and having more than 33% of the Board members present at a water race. Quite honestly, protecting and promoting hound hunting (which I quite naturally assume every hound hunter should support with more than just lip service) is the reason to support CHC, not how many members of the Board choose to or are able to make it to certain events.

Well Rifleman why don't you share with us what the duties of a chc board member is. and don't you think that you guy's would be there to at least show people that chc supports what this water race is trying to raise money for? if you guys don't even want to show up to this water race why would i want to drive three hours to go myself? i agree with you in promoting and preserving hound hunting too but please tell me why i should support a organization that don't show there support. oh yeah, one more quick question how does me joining chc protect and promote hound hunting? what is chc doing to promote hound hunting? I'm yet to see chc at any public events where they could promote hound hunting or show the public what they are about. why? Thanks Gary

Well Josh
I do believe that his was a CHC bennifit put on by CHC!
Now maybe I'm wrong, but my exspectations of CHC are to have more than One officer out of the five, and more than 4 or 5 of the trustees out of the 12, now I know that it was probly not a good weekend to have this event with it being Fathers Day's but the way I under stand it, this had been in the works for a few months, and if there was going to be a problem with not having but one of the officers and a few of the trustees there to help out, even for one of the two days,
I would think that this could have been dicussed at the meeting the weekend before water race,
now I wasn't at the meeting but from what I heard from the people that were there they were surprised at the lack of particapation of the managment of CHC and
my expectations would be to show the hound community that CHC managment would at least make a showing at there own FUND RAISER!
You and I have had this dicussion before, and I know that the Field Trials and Water Race's aren't somethng that all houndsmen participate in, but I not know of any other place that CHC could show there strenth to more houndsmen.

Dale ~ I've got 1 for you. How about the many Assembly and Senate meetings in Sacramento that those of us CHC Officers and Board Members who aren't always at the Field events always go to?

Heck there's tons of CHC members and hunters in general that aren't even members that live within a half hour of the Capitol. Do you see them there when they need to be? NO!
I guarantee you you'll find Board Members and Officers there standing up for YOU!

How many times have you been there Dale? 3 Maybe I know I've seen you at 2, and that's it. I've traveled down there that many times in 1 month. As have many other board members and officers.
I'D CHALLENGE ANY OF YOU to say that you do more than does Josh, or Dan T or myself.
I don't want a pat on the back. I just want more members to get involved with what's going on down there.

I've got another question for you, Do you really think the majority of the people that were @ the water race were really there to see CHC Raise Funds to fight back a ballot initiative which will come at us at some point? Or do you think they were there to try to win part of the pot?
If this was true EVERY ONE there WOULD BE A CHC MEMBER.

How many do you think would show if it was run with the same format, but with no payout? ALL MONIES collected for entries went to the SPVF Fund to fight for our rights to hunt? My guess would be very few.

You've gotten more involved these last couple of years i admit. My question is where were you for the last 10?
Just remember it's a volunteer job, and a person can only volunteer so much.

Granted there are some board members that need to do a lot more. Just as there are a whole lot more members that need TO DO SOMETHING

Gary ~ We (CHC) strive to promote hound hunting in more ways than you can imagine.
I also think CHC showed A LOT of support by putting up the payout. No one asked you to pitch in for a portion of it did they?

The bottom line is EVERY Board Member or Officer CAN'T make it to all of the events.

Nuff Said from me.

Hope to see you all in September @ the CHC meeting!

Yep you are right Irv nobody did ask me to kick in on the "pot" but what does that really matter? so how about giving me a straight answer, HOW DOES CHC PROMOTE HOUND HUNTING? you know it's funny Irv, every time this subject comes up all you got to say is "where were you", "we do more then you think", why is so hard to give a straight answer? and again what are the duties of a chc board member or officer? it's good for us members to atleast know what our officers are doing for us, right?

Good to here from you Tiny

It is the same book and more you read it the more it looks like CHC thinks that all they need to do is be in Sacramento , don't get me wrong I know they bust there ass's in Sac, I've posted here several times that Irv is in Sac more then the Governor, and Irv this isn't so much a attack on you, your one of the few that is seen the most and at the water race you were the only target there. It's just when it comes to the field trials and the water races where the houndsmen are and where CHC could build support and participation, we are a after thought at best.
This isn't just my bitchen but just relaying the bitchen that was going on at the water race, being one of the field marshal and working at the booth most every body there was asking where are the CHC officers?, Isn't this there fund raiser? and when Irv showed up as the last race was being ran and he and I had some words, the group had the same questions of him, Where's CHC?

The "Group" consisted of you Lori & Keith.

This is getting pretty petty Dale! Show some maturity. See you at the next mtg. Complain all you want there.

How many people do you think you turn away with your antics both here as well as the WR?

I'm done on here trying to convince a few of what CHC does that's important to them and the sport of hunting.

Don't bother replying cause I won't as I've said before, and as said above this in getting old!

Later!

So Irv

Instead of answering the question asked of you about what CHC does and that you think that writing a check and walking away from a CHC fund raise is the best way to gain support and participation for CHC in the future, you run from the questions.
And to the question you asked of me where have I been the last 10 years?
I've been involved with CHC and NCCH for over the last 20 years , I was there the day that SPVF was started, I was there in 93 speaking at the wild life community meeting when we were trying to get our training season back, there when the gave us the a Lion hunting season then took it back and issued pursuit permits, making the phone calls and writing letters fight the many propositions over the years.
Now stop trying to take the spot light off your self and answer the questions asked of you.

For your mere $20.00 I'm indebted to you for life right? I have to answer to your every whim right?

I DON'T THINK SO!

It would be better asked What Can YOU Do For CHC and Not What CHC Can Do For You!

sounds like Irv, Maybe it because he has this attitude. all i wanted to know was a couple questions. so if my twenty dollars membership is not enough to get some answers from chc leadership please tell me how much one has to send in to get some straight honest answers? Gary
