Post by Tree_m »

TREE_M,
I just had pups out of my 10 year old female, She produced them great but they were not getting the nutrition they needed. She was not letting them eat as much as they should and it seamed to me the milk was not giving them all there nutrition. She had eight and three survived.
This female has raised 4-5 litters of 10-12 pups with all of them living and mother did great. I am not sure if this is a fluke thing with her or it is due to her age, but i will not breed her again. (bottle feeding is not fun).
If you choose to breed her keep a close eye on her and the pups after they are born.
Good luck,
Matt

Bluefloyd, you got it right. She might have a nice sized litter, but feeding them could well be a problem.

I have one that I am still breeding and getting good litters out of, not as big as I would like but she is getting it done.
I would talk to Andy (Twist) about breeding your female, he has that Topper Again dog up there in your neck of the woods. And the best reproducing dog I have seen from Montana.
How is she bred?
