Trigg Cross Breeding

Post by Ker_man »

For years I have seen ads in Full cry referring to coon hound/Trigg dogs for sale. This always seemed to me to be a "west coast" thing with most adds coming from Washington and Oregon. In recent years I have tried a couple 1/4 and 1/2 foxhound dogs and liked some of the qualities they had. I think that the foxhound breeds are becoming more alike due to competition. My question is are you guys using an old line of trigg to cross or just good foxhounds period. Terry :?:

Hey there Terry, bottom line it's about like anything else-you gotta wade thru the culls to get to the good stuff. When you find'em they definatley contribute to a pack.

I live in WV and raise top notch Reg Trigg that we use on Bear and bobcats. This line has been around for years and where used for big game. They have great feet and alot of brains. Some times we cross them with a line of treeing walkes that I have had for years. At times we have hounds for sale and most of the triggs outwest come from this same line. All of my Triggs are papered and I know papers don't tree game but you know where they come from. They will make great hounds to hunt and cross in any ones pack. 304-415-8608 J R Good Luck

I have wonderd about that myself. I also wanted to ask why you dont see Running walkers or Julys in some crosses as they are more comman it seems than the Trigg?

Timberline what line of Triggs do you have? I just sent a pair of Trigg pups to Finland to hunt fox, timber wolves, bear and lynx.
