Something that has always worked for me is to drip the liquid from a tuna can, or from a wet cat food can, over the bait--no matter what kind of bait it is. The strong smell is hard for them to resist. Then I set it within smelling distance of a lake shore, or stream, that they frequently walk along.

no better lure on the market than procoon, its made by Stef forgett. A small drop or two under the pan and marshmallows. As stated before location is the most impoortant part pertaining to cage trapping. If you need a link to the procoon, let me know. I have trapped for many years and tried them all, this by far puts up more coon than any lure I have seen or heard of.
Another secret to coon in cages is to paint your trip pan white, trust me white at night works!!! Fur checks to prove it.:0)

Tuna and chicken.
I really like the rotisserie chicken carcasses. I bust em up and get about 5 or 6 sets off one, freezing them in ziplock bagged portions.
Had a giant rat in mine today though, little bugger had his head so crammed in the side I couldnt get it out "whole"
Been having problems with ravens pulling stuff out the sides too.
Hope we get a couple for this weekend (coons)
Steeliekingfisher; Why white trip pans ?

BlacktailStalker- The white trip pan works killer for coon. With cage trapping it is a different game than setting steel in the dirt. I am not 100% sure why it works well but my guess would be added eye appeal to enter the trap. I used to put a piece of white plastic bag wired just behind the pan and that worked well also. Many of the top ADC guys use white pans and I learned this from them. I figure what the heck I will try it, now all my 50 coon cages have white pans in them. I live where cages are my only legal weapon when trapping, so I learned over the years what works for me best. I chase coons for the first 3 weeks of the season, then cat opens and I mainly run lines for them. White does not work on cats, for those I cover the wire cage bottom and pan with dirt and leaves so nothing is visible except my hunk of fur hanging in the back of the cage.
Once again, its all location, you can use the worlds best bait and if your in the wrong spot, nada, well maybe a possum or two.lol.

Here around my place in ORegon, I have tryed Fish, tuna, eggs, brownies, candy , dead birds, chicken, and fruit. But what i Have found to work the best hot or coldis dry cat food. It stays good for a bit and the coons love it.
