I had a pair of double Bred Hammer 3 dogs years back they were littermate. One was a darl blue the other pretty light. The old dark blue dog could cold trail an old coon track cross a alkili flat other dogs around him couldn't. He was also the pheasant trailing king and he would spend all night trailing up and flushing those chickers out of those tule swamps. I figured he would do good on dirt lions but I got him started on them and then had so many dogs we had to sell a few. Sold him and a couple of other pretty cheap to Darrell Welte of Dusty, New Mexico. The Weltie's are real good old time lion and bear hunters. This old blue dog would trail them dirt lions but he was so slow you had to set stakes to wee if he moved and he never made the cut. The other light colored dog mad a decent coon hound but he got growly at the tree so I planted him.

Thanks you guys

Mike,
My male is the same way ( growly ) but I figure he is young enough that I might be able to shock the piss outta him every time he even thinks about growling. when he starts up with my other male or any other male for that matter I just let them fight so he gets the shit beat outta him and takes his place.
I also just bought some of that Grawes Lion training scent your right that stuff sure works, even the broke dogs trail on it. I wanna get my dogs to start rigging.
Heres a pic of my Hammer Dog '' Bowser '' He aint what I was expecting though for he's a smaller dog but with a year to grow yet I think he's finished. he's 1 year and about 3 months old

Usually wgen they are growly at that young og an age shocking and getting whipped doesn't help mu. Shocking will usually cause the other dogs to jump on them when they react, but getting whipped only makes them more fearful and they growl all the more. A lot of growly dogs have been made growly by and older growly dog they were afraid of. So everytime you load them in the box ggrrroooowwwwwlll! I am bad so don't bite me, bump me and growll! some more and then before long the fight is on.

I had a redbone pup called Chester one time and he may have been the quickiest starting and fastest pup I ever saw to start catching his own game. But he was so possessive over game right off the bat that at 6 months he would jump on an old dog if they tried to get close to his cat or coon. I hated to do it but one night after a long hunt where the dogs were bone tired he dived on my best dog who was trying to sleep one more time. Needless to say he never made it home.....and everybody lived happily ever after......

Usually when I let one of the older / way bigger dogs and him continue fighting they stop on their own why I don't know. But I only shock him if he all out snaps at one of the others who don't let it concern them. He hasn't been possesive over anything on the ground yet but tomarrows another day too.
