I use to use only quick track but i got tired of sending mine back to charge. I think the range is about the same.

we use wildlife box and johnson collars. even the guys that hunt with us that use quick track boxes and tracker maximas use johnson collars. i hear a lot of guys say that marshall boxes are good, but i have never used one.

i just priced marshall to Quicktrack (both directly form the company) and Quick track was the most expencive.

I used Quick track for years ( I also own Johnson and Wildlife and the people i hunt with use many other collar brands) when the dog is a long way off the only one i found i could depend on was Quick Track. the only reason I am changing is because you have to send them back to get the collars recharged.

my old collars i use to send back every three years or longer but now i am sending them back twice a year. so that is the reason i am changeing. if you talk to Quick track they say nothing has changed but if you hunt very much and are using one of their new collars you will find out they dont last as long as they use to.

but again the range is still the best in my opinion.

anyone wanting to buy some Quick Track mine are for sale most in the 216.400 range

I've never owned a Quick Track collar but, I got 2 Marshall collars with a system I bought and they were so strong that they bled over on my brand new Johnson collars. Where I was picking them up on a 6 with my Johnsons I would get the other two of a 4 with the Marshalls. I really liked the collars. The light deal was cool but, I hate AA or rechargeable batteries. I know to many guys that have lost dogs with those collars on. I also know that a TON of people swear by them. I would get a Marshall if I didn't mind the batteries and that's not even knowing what a Quick Track will do.

So, the marshall collars use AA bats? Quick track use what then? And what do you send back to be recharged? The bats or the settings? Also, how do you pick what setting you want? 216.00 etc?

I believe that you send the collars back to get the Freq. changed. You don't have to do anything with Marshall batteries. You just pop in 2 more fresh AAs and go on. If you wanted to save money just buy a AA charger and 4 batteries from walmart. The wife got one for my D batteries that goes in my Mag lite since they are so expensive. I have no idea what kind of battery goes in the Quick Tracks.

Why does it matter what freq. you hunt?

it doesn't really. I hunt on a 217 freq and I have friends that hunt on a 216. If you have a box like a Maxima 5000 you got everything from 216-220 and anything in those will work. It's good if you run across a good deal on a bunch of off freq collars. If your box is only programmed for a 216 you can't use anything but a 216 freq. Some are even tighter than that. Like a 216.100-216.500 and nothing outside that range will work.
