Getting my first pup!

Post by BanditBuster »

Well, I have always wanted to own a hound and I finally have my chance. I have a few questions for you guys:

#1 What would be a good breed for me? I'll be hunting mostly coons, but make try for a coyote at one point in time. Also, I've never trained a coon hound before so I need one that isn't to terrible to train. I'm thinking a redbone.

#2 What do I need for equipment to train my new hound once I buy it?

#3 What do I need for equipment to hunt with my new hound once I train it?

#4 Where can I find a qaulity hound in Minnesota, or near there?

I need all the help I can get.

Thank you so much!

1. First get the book by John Wick called, "Walk with Wick" volume one.
2. Then get yourself a raccoon trap 10X32X whatever a big trap.
3. Put some dog food in a canister and pour syrup or honey in it. You can catch from a possum, to a cat, but you will be catching big raccoons most of the time.
4. Drag the caged coon around and then tie that caged coon up to a tree and let your dog tree and bay until you get tire of hearing him.
5. Keep that raccoon for a week and feed and give the raccoon water. Keep training your dog with it for week and then release it.
6. When you release it, POUR "Water" on the raccoon so the raccoon can give out more sent.
7. Tie your dog and release the coon.
8. Let your dog trail.
9. Learn the behavior of your dog
10. Take your dog out and hunt him or her alone whenever you get a chance.
11. DON'T GIVE UP ON YOUR DOG
12. DON'T GIVE UP ON YOUR SELF
13. PERSEVERANCE MAN
14. hunt hard and hunt as much as you can. GOOD LUCK and it is very hard work, so be "PATIENT"
