Looks like I got cheated. Opinions
Well Howdy everyone, I'm back but not in a good way. I'm looking for help .
So here is the deal, I sold a dog to someone in Texas for someone in N. Carolina. It was a dog that I had sold previously but helped someone else re-sell Later. Anyway, I agreed to be the go between to protect both parties. Guy in Texas sent me the money in a check. It was the second time I've dealt with him and the first deal went off without a hitch, so I simply deposited the check and told they guy in NC I would forward the money to him as soon as the dog was delivered safe to texas and as soon as the check cleared. 3 weeks after I deposited the check, I figured everything was good to go, I pulled a cashiers check out of my account and sent it to the guy in NC. The SAME FRIGGEN DAY I got notice from my Bank. The check had not cleared. The money was taken from my account and I was charged for the bounced check. So I call the guy from Texas. He acts surprised, says he will check into it and call me back. Next day he confirms there was a bank snaffu and says he will send a Money Order for the money and expenses the next day. He sounds very sincere and apologetic, so I don't worry to much. A week goes by, nothing. 2 weeks, nothing, so I call. No answer. Strange because he has always answered his cell phone. Over the next week I leave several nice messages and get no reply. So I start to do some research. His address is incorrect. I did go online and find his sisters # so I call her. she isn't very helpfull execpt that I did get out of her that he lives on her street.
At this point I cannot imagine any scenario exept that I have been cheated out of a large sum of money that I cannot afford to lose. The money that was taken from my account was not even my money.
Any suggestion on where to start with this cheater?

Call the local sheriff in the town the sister lives in. What he did is nothing short of exstortion. give the sheriff the sisters home number also. Did you contact the fella in NC to see if the hound was shipped and received yet?

info
The guy in Texas has the dog. It was shipped via Air. I called the Guy in NC tonight and had him call the guy in Texas to see if he was simply screening my calls. He got no answer either, but I'm sure his name would have come up on caller ID as well.
My Bank says they sent me his bounced check, but i did not recieve it yet. That is they only paper work I have from him. Like I said I had dealt with him and met him in person once before and did not expect to have to cover myself as much as I normally would.
I just left a message with Texas Guy telling him he had 24 hours to contact me or I would call his local sheriff.
Don't know what else I can do at this point. I'd hate to have to take time off work to make a trip to Texas.

Man, I hate dishonest people. One thing that you can try is to contact the issuing bank and see if they can verify if funds are available. If they are, then go cash that check. You can also keep trying to deposit the check. Tell the teller that you want to place a hold on it. The bank will try twice to cash it, and if it does go through they will not give you the money until it actually clears both banks. If you need some help let me know. A friend of mine works for a consumer fraud advocacy company and he might be able to help you track down more info about this guy, ie. properties owned, assets etc., that you can place a lean on. If ya want PM me some info and I'll see what he can do. Either way, I hope it works out for you.

UPDATE
After a few legal documents and the dog comming up missing (no It wasn't me, but it was good timing
) There was finally enough pressure to get another Bad check
. But then I think there was finally enough pressure to get a cashiers check and the SITUATION IS RESOLVED
Thanks to every one who helped, Since the situation has been resloved I will not give out a name, BUT....Beware of a gentleman from Texas writing rubber checks.
