No matter where you live there are a few basic ways to catch or kill a coyote. The first way and possibley the easiest is to have really good track running dogs and shoot the coyote ahead of the dogs. Another way is to have really good track running dogs that have plenty of speed that will catch the coyote and either bay it up or kill it. That way right there may be the hardest thing you will ever try to do in your life. The other way and my favorite is to have dogs that might not be the greatest track dogs in the world but they will get up on a coyote and jump him and hang so tight that they get their eyes on him fast. Trick here is they gotta have the speed, air, and balls to catch the sumbitch and catch him quick cuz these kinda dogs usually wont be able to put their nose back to work after this. I know some will say they have them and I'm sure they exist but according to my kids so do the easter bunny and santa.
You can also just use greyhounds and catch and kill them a bunch easier but you might have to get a little creative at times.
Many other ways to do it but there ya go, thats what I know for sure.

Easter Bunny and Santa Claus. Thats funny right there I don't care who you are. But absoulutely correct. And when you find one that will do that he/she is worth their weight in gold.
If only I could be the man, my dogs think I am.

I have hunted out there a few times with the same hounds that I run here in WI on bear and coyotes. They run the same out there as they do here.

Hey Dan, sounds like maybe you have been on a yote run or two! That about summs it up right there.
Re: Coyote Hunting in South Dakota
yeah we got good yote hunting out here in SD we take over a couple hundred a year i'll try and put some pics up on here of the spoils. I don't take any of my yotes with hounds their considered trash for my hounds. But i do call alot in every year, their so thick here they come in to the caller or decoy in pairs or a pack even some times.
