lovers
Are you two gonna kiss and hug cause I think I am gonna vomit. I was hopin for a damn fist fight and now all we get is internet romance. Isnt that sweet.
That was my whole point: I have never had or ever will have a dog that could catch a cat in those hot dry/hot wet conditions between 11 am and 7 pm. You said something about me being ignorant in relation to that statement, so I am giving your dogs a chance to prove me ignorant. The thousand dollars is really just payment for the opportuntiy to observe the best dogs I have ever seen, because if they earn that thousand by baying one of our bobcats in those conditions, that is what they will be.Mr.pacojack wrote:I will take you up on that bet or free money which ever you want to call it but first I want to see your dogs catch a cat first, remember I said if you can catch a cat there so can I.
Seems like I mentioned this but, I dont have any dogs. I have quit hunting. And it's not a horrible thing. I have spent my whole life doing things that I enjoy and that are meaningful to me. I got to pretend I was a rock star for many years and make a few albums, while I was also pretending I was a mountain man, and got to sell a few hundred furs, spent a few years as pastor of a couple churches while pretending I was the cat master of the coast range. I have had a good long retirement of 51 years. Now it is time for me to go to work to try and help my two beautiful kids get set up for survival on their own. My giving up hunting is actually my motivating factor for sharing some of this stuff. It's a bunch of theories that I beleive could lead to something great, but I will never be able to test them. I am just laying them out here in case some one can get anything out of it.
The same theories actually led me to this dog I spoke of. I was doing some digging, and heard of the cross, and all the different type dogs in the cross, and said "hey, virtually all the traits I am looking for can be found in that list of breeds" (Plott, Walker, Border Collie, Leopard Cur, Stephens Cur). So I traveled across 4 states, and paid $400 for a mixed bred puppy, because that is what it took to shake her loose from her breeder who had plans of his own.
Any way, you are always welcome to come up here. I think Nolte had extended an invitation also. I have the $1,000 and a good job now, it is hard for me to say I will in two years, but it dont really matter, cause you dont have dogs that can bay a cat up here in those conditions. But Nolte is bear hunting during those conditions, so you can come up for that, and try for the cat challenge while you are at it.
So it's been interesting. Sorry Dan, to disapoint you. Maybe me and Paco can duke it out when he comes up here, take some bloody pictures and post em for you.
If anyone does happen to cross a pure border collie on a pure hound, or a terrier on a hound, I sure would enjoy hearing about it. Not telling you to do it, but if you do.......
Dan Edwards, sorry for not acknowledging some of the stuff you said, sometimes I think stuff and then think others can read my mind I guess. I have always read your posts from the time when you were first "just pidlin" till now, and I have always felt you had the ability to think outside the box, and I have listened to everthing you have said about that cur gyp and her offspring, and I have always felt they would make cat dogs if given the chance, and beleive me I appreciated the support when Mr. Pacojack and Pops were beatin' me up so bad.
I have never got so many pm's and phone calls over any thread since I found this site a few years ago. Thanks to all who contacted me and all who added to the thread.

I really do think it's sexy when you talk all rough like that though.

Thank you for your apology.
I was actually talkin about Paco and Nolte havin the love affair. I had forgot about you cause I thought you was headin out. Anyhow, I have always thought outside the box and still do and folks think at times that I am as crazy as you. I am pretty much settling in on one thought though and folks will think this is just as crazy. I have found two styles of dogs that I am gonna breed. I like the cur blood for their intelligence and some odd unexplainable quality they bring to the table. I am gonna keep about a 1/4 running dog and about 3/4 cur in most of my dogs. I think they suit me the best. Oh well, thats pretty much the conclusion I have come to, right now.
