You have valid points to argue but the dfg wardens are set in their ways and it will be difficult to argue with a kid who went to Berkley and has never hunted a day in there life.
CHC is working to change that; CHC partnered with the Department to host a bear hunting clinic for the second year in a row, and in addition to showing the students how to skin a bear, we had a chance to talk about the mechanics, ethics, and inherently sporting nature of hound hunting; among the students were several warden cadets.
Its also tough to argue them when they are taught in their warden school that the biggest poachers are houndsmen.
CHC is also working to change this; I've been invited by Nancy Foley, Chief of Enforcement, to speak at the Academy about hound hunting specifically so as to foster a favorable opinion of hound hunting before the new wardens are jaded in the field.
I know of guys who were not even hunting but they had a hound wearing gps and got into trouble over it.
Can you please provide me with the docket numbers of these cases, or the names and contact information of those involved?
It justs shows the HSUS true colors even more when I can not protect my hound. You think they would want us to be able to protect our hounds by using gps. Even for the game its better. We can get there sooner, evaluate if its something that we want and decide to take it or let it go. Stop the pack before they get in a hwy or even private land. Its a win win so it doesn't make sense that we can't use them unless the goal is to make all houndsmen illegal by slicing away at us.
Bingo. These are all very good arguments, and ones I used in statements to both the HSUS over coffee and to the Commission during hearings concerning the GPS proposal. What is important to understand is that, at the heart of the HSUS philosophy, there is a fundamental contempt towards dogs, cats, and other animals of our making. They believe that, because these species were created by humans, and in consideration of the fact that we don't truly belong on this planet, these species are also unnatural and don't belong here either. Wayne Pacelle, CEO of HSUS, has made statements in the past indicating his preference that these species die out...thus, their aggressive efforts against private and unregulated breeding of dogs and cats veiled under the guise of campaigns against puppy mills and euthanasia/overpopulation. Wayne Pacelle is no fool, and has learned from the mistakes of PETA's Founder, Ingrid Newkirk; honest and candid elaborations of this philosophy will alienate the American Mainstream and earn you the reputation as a crackpot. Accordingly, Pacelle purports himself as a lover of "companion animals" and promotes HSUS commercials involving abundant reference to the plight of cats and dogs all the while counting on the public-who understandably assumes the HSUS is affiliated with their local humane shelter-to give money to saving abused dogs and cats. He then uses these donations in their efforts to ban hunting, ranching practices, circuses, and other human enterprises involving the use of animals. Not only does the public not understand their true intent, but I am convinced that many, if not most, of HSUS employees and members do not know about it either.
