Re: Garmin dc 40 review
I wonder how many folks know that the battery in the DC40 is NOT user replaceable. You need to send it back to Garmin for replacement.

Not me.. I opened one up to check it out and seen the antenna is about 2 inches longer, but I didn't think to check the battery.

Re: Garmin dc 40 review
I didn't either. Shipped the last ones I had in stock out before finding it out. So have not had a chance to check it out yet. Does not make sense that we can buy the batteries and not replace them. Yet that is what Garmin told 2 days ago. Next batch won't be here for a few days to see what I can do to replace them. I'm betting it would void the warranty if you did replace it. Not sure about that though either.

Re: Garmin dc 40 review
I try to keep one around that I've been testing the updates and such I'll crack it open and take a look tonight.
I just checked garmin's website and I don't see where you can buy the batteries for them.
I just assumed it was the Same battery as the DC30 didn't even look...

Buddy here is the part number for the battery. Model: 010-10806-20 I see the list is $49.00. Not sure why they list it if we are not supposed to replace it. One of those things that make you go HMMMMMMM!

It looks like you can change the battery. I have it apart and it does have a connector for the battery.
