I'm sure not an expert on Texas, but I don't know of ANY public land in TX. If you have capable dogs, just contact the land owners directly, and go from there. MOST ranchers welcome lion hunters.

If you find some , pm me as I don't know of any. I live here and don't know of any ,Texas is mostly private land. The public hunting areas might be worth a try but are usually to small to hunt with hounds.. Contact Texas parks and wildlife dept.
I can make 'em go and I can make 'em Whoa !
God makes 'em do.
I'll take Jesus, you can have the field

Andy,
I lived in Texas most of my life and was raised on a ranch.
There is very little public land and as ranchers, what we did was to give any regular hunter that killed a lion accidently, a free year of hunting or a sum of money.
Since there were so few killed by that means, we had to hire professional lion hunters.
The Gov't trappers are/were not able to handle all the predator demands on them.
Ranchers even created a special fund within areas called trapping clubs for assisting the gov't trappers finacially.
I don't know what the latest is, other than being told by a gov't trapper that it is all going to hell in a hand basket, especially with the hogs gaining foot holds along with a resurgence of the coyotes and cats.
Good luck.
Oiler coach Bum Phillips when asked why he takes his wife on all the road trips.
Phillips: “Because she is too damn ugly to kiss good-bye.”
Not sure if it's true, just funnier than hell. A been there done that moment.

If you google "public Land in Texas" it comes up with a state site that list all the public ground. Hope that helps.
