Had several people interested, but no takers....
I had not really worked the pups alone on any game at all..No trainers or drags...I decided to take all four pups out by themselves just for kicks..I got lucky and a bobcat ran acroos the road in front of me...I was thinking at that point,"SHUDDA BROT ONE GOOD DOG WITH ME"
...I thought what the heck...I dumped out the pups and walked them over to where the cat crossed the road...They were horse playing around and being idiots..I thought "FIGURES " 
...Just as I was going to load them up, I saw my little redtick coloerd female put her nose to the ground. She was really vacuuming up the area ..The 3 other ding bats joined in and the race was on...You could have knocked me over with a feather 
...They carried that track for about a mile and them I heard them half way treeing...I had drove my truck in as far as I could go and got out on foot...I had my white pup walk up to me acting disinterested...I got closer to the tree and I could see the other pups milling around under this juniper...They were really working the area over except for the white pup.I looked in the tree and BAM there it was...I was like... YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME...One of the pups finally saw the cat and began treeing..It wasnt to long before the other 2 chided in...I was beside myself,as these pups had never treed before...All the bears we caught were way to high for them to locate....2 of the pups looked just like their grandpa with their feet on the tree just hammerin..I was looking at the white pup thinking she was about worthless...She wasnt doing anything...I was in the process of climbing the tree when the cat bailed ...The 3 pups didnt see it, but the white pup did. She was burning that cat up...The cat stopped in a small bush and made a fight...The 3 other pups piled in and had it surrounded...The cat made a run and went up another juniper..That little white pup went to the tree and started chopping...That was her switch ...She was turned on !!!!!
The cat bailed 2 more times before it stayed treed...All 4 pups were treeing their heads off...I was taking video with my cell phone and loving every minute of it...I hated for it to end, but I thought I had not push my luck...My truck was a ways off and I had no gun...My pups had no tracking collars on them as I never expected them to take that track the way they did...I did have leashes,so I leashed them up....I got back to the truck and loaded the FEARSOME FOURSOME up ...To say I was impressed would be an under statement...I could hardly get my head in my truck
If I may, let me give you houndsmen,or houndswomen some advice on pups ..I bought my first pups in 1982...I have raised a couple pups since then...As you can tell,I still dont know much...My opinion of that white pup had me all wrong.What I do know is, if you have a well bred pup, you shouldnt have to train them to hunt. A good pup should have that natural desire to trail and tree.Your job should be to show them the right game and not RUIN them...Lay off the shock collar a bit....Let them fool around a bit on trash....Once you get them on some good game,then break them off the bad stuff...Ive seen to many times, me included where a person is not patient and ruins a dog...I had a good friend take one of my pups one time and completely ruin that dog. the littermates to that dog were some real keepers. He shocked that dog so much that it would not run any game ..It was too bad,that pup had a lot of drive. For me, I do all my obedience training in my yard before I take the dogs to the field...I let my pups run just about anything they wanna run to an extent...."I wont let them run Javelinas"...I watched these 4 pups trail a coyote yesterday for about an hour...They were collared up with tracking and shock collars.My boy and I sat up on top of a hill and watched them work it..They struck it on their own and worked it...Some may think that was a bad thing to do...I call it good training....When I get them on some more good game,then Ill tighten up on what they get to run....OH by the way...The FEARSOME FOURSOME will be staying in my kennel ....Good luck to ya....Coop
