What do you think?- Bear Weight

Post by wackysam16 »

We treed this one during the training season and we figured him to be in the 200's, and the thing that sucks is it was 3 days till the shooting season and we couldn't find him at all during the whole season. He had treed up within 10 min. so we figured the dogs trashed on coon out of the cornfield so we went in to get them we weren't going slow cause we didn't figure it a bear but when we got there there was a bear jumping tree and about 5 min. later it treed again right on the edge of the cornfield, and this was all done with one dog the other four were running a sow and cub. The pics may look different because he came down the tree while we were there and then went back up halfway. So was wondering what you all thought on weight.

He looks to be a decent size, but its hard to tell without knowing how big around the tree is. Can you give an estimate on the tree trunk diameter?

You know i really don't know, but i know the tree was a pretty good size around, maybe a 20-30 inch but that may be far out there cause i don't know.

He looks young. 200 lbs sounds a little high to me. I'd guess closer to 150. But its a pretty wild guess.

Looks too small to me. Ears are big compared to head size. My guess is just over 100, but bears are tricky.

Maybe around 140- 150 dressed but dont trust that, I still get fooled. But remember some people are live weight and some are dressed. I like to go with dressed weight because I dont like to drag anymore than I have to.

Ok i got some different pictures of this bear from the same day just different looks at the tree and the bear, still looks pretty big to me but i guess looks can be deceiving too just wanted to put some different views on it. I got like 20 or so pics of this bear, some of them look like their a big bear and some look little but i guess it's just the way he's positioned.

i'm going with a live weight of 180 to 200. ears are kinda big but seperation aint bad. seems to be a longer framed bear.
