Redish/Blonde Coyote Down

Post by bull_357 »

We had a good chase today. It sure didn’t start off looking to good though. We had melting snow and spotty snow in the morning. It also froze over night so there was no looking for tracks before daylight. Hit the foxpro and had one light up in a bottom. Put some jump dogs in there and walked over with them trying to find it with no luck. Put out some more dogs and one of our hot hounds jumped one up and the chase was on. She was way out in front so we let her pound it for an hour or so. We fed in a few dogs and it was making real little circles so we were wondering if it was a fox or coyote. Eventually someone saw the coyote and we fed in more dogs. They made a loss, and we figured it out. We put just three dogs on the track since the scent conditions were horrible. Our hot dogs were barely even barking. The coyote came by me after a few circles at about 60 yards I just couldn’t get a shot. I radioed in and said it was a very blonde/red on and not think it was a red fox. They made a half circle and it bayed then broke. It went up to Sean and he laid a dead coyote load into it at about 50 yards and that’s all she wrote. Beautiful coyote sure was a shame it had the starts of mange.

CONGRATS Sean it is about time you got a chance to shoot one!
