Re: Hound training books
If I remember correctly it is a little of both. The Dynamics of Hound Training by Vicki Lamb is good and my personol favorite, is Tom Solberg's, Dog Talk 1 and 2 which are kind of a step by step set of books. He writes well and explains why it is of benefit to your pup/dog to train the way he recommends.

Check out Mike Leonard's training sticky on this site. It is a method which many people have used and it works.

My vote would also be for Tom Solberg's books, very good for young coonhounds and for beginning coonhunters.
