How do you feel about your state's game agency?
How do you feel about your state's game agency?
I've generalized that in OR, most hunters and houndsmen feel that ODFW is NOT looking out for their best interest. I also feel that those I talk to in WY feel WY G&F is doing a pretty good job. Is this just because of the differences in the agencies or is it because of the differences in game abundance? After looking at the CO DOW website, it looks like they've got a pretty good handle on what and how things are done.
So, how do you feel your state's wildlife agency is doing and why. Either hounding or hunting, I'm just curious.
Thanks, Tom.

Warden Service in Maine is Great . Always good people to deal with . Sad part is they always use to be self sufficient living / surviving on their income and operations from license fee's some years actually making a pretty good profit . When the moose lottery went into effect the money started to add up ,Still all was well .They were even able to put money away for a rainy day and future projects . THEN
The state legislature got jealous ,saw the windfall and POOOOF all their income was decreed to go into the State General Fund and it has been SLIM Pickins since then . I would suppose several western states have suffered the same downfall . Look at Montana as an example last I checked it was $1,200.00 for a Non - Resident hunting license
If you live out West that is Great ,I will PASS on the high fee's and trying to get preference points .Outside of Maine I do most of my Big Game Hunting in Canada.

in arizona we dont have to worry about wolves or lions killing all the deer and elk cause we have the game and fish to give out more tags than we have animals and if you own hounds a lot of them aint gonna think to much of that either but they are there to make money not manage wildlife

It sucks. Most of the wardens are guys that got picked on in high school and treat everyone like a criminal. And the department of fish and game is 100% revenue.

California- Have you seen the show? They only put the ones that are half way sane on the show. You dont even want to know how bad the others can be. We have a great one up here that makes Boyd look like a school girl (DC Little).
As for how they are on looking out for our interest? They are now in bed with the HSUS so that should cover it all.

i think ca f n g has gone to far. putting on bear feet and walking around on dirt roads and then laying a drag to a false tree and staying there until the dogs get there is going above and beyond protocall if you ask me. is this not entrapment at the least? do other f n g agencies practice this crazyness? not sure my dog would strike on that bs but i would not be too happy if i walked to a tree and a warden was waiting there. im all about them busting meth heads poaching deer in oraville, but the fact that they put us in the same catagory is sickening.

I love California F&G. They are so kind and caring about the enviroment and its animals. They work their tales off to eliminate hound hunting with little or no appreciation for their efforts. Remember next time you see an animal in a tree thank your warden for them protecting these critters from unscrupulous hunters who use hounds.

Our fish and game here love us. Today took my kids out fishing with my buddies. A friendly warden going by in a boat saw us. Turned around and pulled right up in our fishing spot to ask us how we were doing and if we were catching any fish. He said he wasnt worried about checking licenses just wanted to see how many fish people were catching. We just thought that was so nice him pulling right up on our fishing spot like that to see how we were doing. Wasnt that thoughtful of him.

Re: How do you feel about your state's game agency?
Well see they are on OUR SIDE. Its so nice to see them looking out for us like that. I bet with all that extra money they got from the HSUS they can run there boats even more now. That is if there was any money left after Wayne Pacelle got done taking Nancy Foley, Chief of Enforcement out to dinner? Thats right I shouldnt say that cause they are on OUR SIDE. After all they wouldnt take money from the biggest threat to hunting that California and our country as a whole has faced to date would they....
Re: How do you feel about your state's game agency?
LOL, I should've excluded Kalifornia, I KNOW you guys are dealing with a mess down there! If it's good enough for "reality tv" it's GOTTA be F'd up!
Wyoming would be MUCH better off if their monies they generate didn't go into the general fund. I know that for a fact
OR's big game (deer) populations are drastically low, and alot of blame is being put on ODFW. I don't know weather it's right or wrong, but ODFW has problems in other areas as well.
I'd like to hear more of CO.
Thanks for the input, keep it coming.
