COON PARALYSIS

Post by muck »

ANYBODY HAVE A DOG THAT HAS GOT THIS. I GOT A DOG THAT IN THE LAST THREE DAYS JUST MOPES AROUND AND DOESNT GET EXCITED ABOUT ANYTHING. HAS NO ENERGY AND WONT EVEN LOAD UP IN THE TRUCK, JUST PUTS HIS PAWS ON THE TAILGATE. HE HAS BEEN EATING EVERYDAY SO I DONT THINK THAT IT IS SALMON POISON. HE DID HAVE A COON LATCH ONTO HIS SNOUT LAST SUNDAY SO THIS IS ALL I CAN THINK HE IS GETTING. ANY IDEAS AND IF SO WHAT THERE IS U CAN DO.

The virus attacks the dogs nervous system or spinal cord and causes it to lose control of its muscles. hounds suffer from this disease in a wide range of severity in other word a mildly affected dog will a apper to be week or wobbly

Ive seen it once before and it had the symtoms Jeff mentioned real weak and wobbly, loss of muscle. It takes a while for them to fully recover. Good luck.

a friend of mine had this happen to his bird dog. They call it coon fighting disease here and it never recovered it has been 3 years. The dog is like a person that had a bad stroke or something
