Put up a youngster last week

Post by jbc67 »

I've never been good about bringing a camera, but Kehrer10 brough his camera last week, so I though I'd share a few pics. That morning we'd turned loose on a somewhat poor bobcat track, but I guess the dogs wanted to go lion hunting instead, cause we ended up with this little fella. The young dogs did really well (I'm just glad they weren't trashing on deer). We petted them up good and left the yearling to train our pups another day.

This is Shadow, my 1 1/2 year old B&T. She and my 2 year old plott/bluetick found the kitty (I guess you could call them quitters since they were the first to give up on pounding out that old bobcat track).

This is Jeremy's dog, Cinch, out of Topper Again (Barely a year old). The cat jumped the first tree after we all arrived and Cinch darn near caught it on the ground next to us. Cinch has some serious wheels.

You know, we had just started taking Scoobey's pup, Cowboy, out hunting with the other dogs. Cowboy was out hunting with us the day before, but I regretfully left him home the day this cat was caught (my timing was off). I should have listened to Cowboy that morning as I loaded all his buddies into the truck--he was trying to tell me that he was ready for another trip. I erred on the side of caution (fear of wearing him out at his young age)--now I regret it. I'll have to post some hair-pulling or treeing pics of Cowboy later. You should know that he's handling well and loves hanging out with the other dogs . . . just starting to get his feet wet as far as hunting goes.
