dc 40

Post by njharnde »

I have 9 of the dc-30's and love them. I keep hearing that the dc-40 would let me put all my equipment on one collar. I just got it today and what a hunk of CRAP! I waited to get this thing and am now really sad i did. I have been a firm believer in garmin for years. I use them in my car, boat, and for work. The new system will track 50 yards and then nothing. I put the system on my beagle (thank god it wasnt a bear hound) it went out and was gone. It took me half the day to find the hound i was not happy. I came home and updated the 220 and the dc-40 then made the wife take it for a ride. I lost her before she left the driveway(of course she came back GRRRR) lol.

Well this is what i ended up with a week of waiting, $200, half of my day off chasing a dog and a pile if crap for a tracking collar! GOOD LUCK!!! I will call garmin in the am. Thanks had to vent. Now i got to go deal with the wife with the frozen hand from the drive with it out the window. LOL

Shouldn't be that bad, unless your loosing GPS signal.

Make sure you update to the 3.6 software and try and pay attention to which signal your loosing if it's the VHF or the GPS.

I definitely try not to sell the DC40's because they are not as good as the DC30 (imo) but I would suspect your having more problems than what can be blamed solely on the DC40..

I had a dc 40, at first it tracked out to about 2 miles. Then had a guy tell me to update it to 3.6 it would be better yet. WRONG After that it wouldnt get 20 yards . I took it back and got a 30

are you folks updating your astro unit as well when your updating your DC40's, DC30's. Has garmin given a reason for the problem that anyone's heard? Why would you have to update a new collar? any reason why after updating it didn't get better or got worse as some have stated?
