Re: Navajo Rez Hunt
Hey Guys I want to thank the heck out of everyone that offered me tips and help on the forum. BIGGAMEHOUNDSMEN is the the stuff when it comes to finding good people to hunt with and good people that are willing to help you out when it comes to training your hounds . After posting that I needed advice on this forum . I was contacted by a couple indiviuals that were willing to show me and my hounds more in a day and a 13 mile chase, than I would have learned in a couple of season of hunting on my own . Ethan , Armando, Quincy, you are awesome thanks for the help. Everyone else that sent pm's and posted tips thanks.

Man that is clasic Navajo Nation country for sure. Some of the most sheer cliff country in the USA. That cat has killed many big mule deer and probably more sheep. Way to go.

Congats, Great job....
. How did your dogs do?
Re: Navajo Rez Hunt
Thanks Guys . Unfortunantly there is no spring bear hunt on a fall hunt and unfortunantly it is pretty pricey, but great hunting in some area's . The little black dog in the picture made the whole hike and all the way to the cliff. He even got in on the crash. This lion couldn't have pick a worst spot to bay up . Three out of the four times we jumped him. It made for some pretty close calls on about a 1000 foot drop. I did not get to see how my male did and two of the other dogs because they never made it to the cliff. This cat crossed a road three times and some where along the way my male was picked up by some wood haulers . Fortunantly Game and Fish was on their way down the road and the people that picked him up turned the dog over to them . There only three dogs that didn't make it to the cliff. One was down the road and my male was picked up and the other was found the next day. If anybody has ever hunted the rez knows , that is one of the biggest down sides , is that people love to steal dogs and not stop when they cross the roads. In the past 2 years that I have been training my hounds out here I know of seven dogs that have been both run over and stolen while hunting . Three of the best dogs I've seen work are gone because of this . The rest we had to look for and thank goodness we found either tied up outside someone's house or still in the back of someone else's truck. SUCK'S . But my female did better than I would have thought she would and I was darn pleased with her. That was the best part of harvesting this lion aside from the company, was watching and listening to my pups and the other dogs trail it and fight it on the edge of that cliff . I'm hoping to get out as much as I can before the season ends in March, and I hope that I have a lot more pictures to post on here. The other good thing was that even as crazy as it got when the chase ended, between dogs fighting on the cliff and the lion trying to knock the dogs off of it and big'ol rocks fall off that big edge. We acctually got some pretty decent video.

Re: Navajo Rez Hunt
Been trying to get a hold of Beartrack, but cannot connect. I have a tag for the Navajo Reservation, and wanted to ask about hunting mountain lion on the rez. Perhaps some of you all have experience hunting there. Specifically, in regards to Beartracks' comment above on people stealing dogs. I need to know more about where this happens, where not to go, and any other specific problems. I don't want to lose my dogs! Thanks!
