Looking for an affordable or private lion hunt.

Post by mibowhunter »

I live in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and am looking for an affordable lion hunt. I'm not particular as to the state and am looking to schedule something 2 years or so from now. I don't need accomodations or food .. just looking for someone to get me on a hunt. I am a successful bear hunter and would be willing to trade a guided bear hunt as part of our deal. I've hunted with two lion outfitters in Colorado and New Mexico in the past with no results. Please let me know if anyone has any advice or contacts for me to get ahold of.

Many thanks. Steve.

You may get a few replys from some good lion outfitters if you state what you can
afford, and what you are willing to harvest for a lion.
To give you a bit of a bench mark to start from, I do a 15 Day all inclusive trophy hunt here in Alberta, Canada.... my fee is $8.750.00.
For this price you hunt for 15 days or until you kill a lion you are going to be happy with taking.
If we tree a 130 lb tom and you want a bigger lion , we continue to hunt...
I guide with an outfitter in B.C. Canada , he has 7 Day hunts for $6.500.00 if you tree a mature tom 130 lb class ,that is your lion, if you turn that lion down you pay an additional $750.00 per day for each day you hunt.
A 130 lb mature tom is a good respectable lion anywhere now days...
I hunt with an outfitter in Nevada and he has 5 Day hunts for $4.000.00 you kill the first lion you tree (almost always a tom , size varies from 100 - 130 + lbs ).... if you turn it down you could go home empty.
Let the guys know what you can afford and I am sure you will get some replys, but remember in most cases you get what you pay for.
Cheap is not always the worst route to go, as someone may have a cancellation "IF" you can be there on a few hrs notice and sometimes you can get a real good hunt if this is an arrangement you can make.
Again save some $ and go with a licensed outfitter that can provide client some references or an outfitter who has worked as a guide and is just getting started in the outfitting business and can give you the names of some clients he /she has guided in the past.
Good Luck

I bet if you can get a hunt swap if you look hard enough.
