90% of the time its obvious. A coyote track is much bigger. A fox track almost looks like the fox is barely puttin his foot on the ground.

Besides the things mentioned another thing that helps (sometimes) is a fox will be on and off the road a gazillion, maybe even a bazillion, times. Coyotes are much more likely to go straight across or at least make less tracks on the road.

Like I said not 100% but another thing to help determine one way or another if you are not sure just based on track size.

Where are you at that you cant run coyotes, but you can run fox and coon. Doesn't make much sense to me. How do they expect you to keep your dogs from switching to a coyote if the coyotes are all over the place. Seems like a stupid law or rule. What do they think they are gaining by not letting you run coyotes

Wonderful Washington State, our game dept decided coyote hunting is socially unacceptable.

WOW. What a bunch of morons you got running that state.hahaha. Socially acceptable? Maybe after the coyotes take care of the deer and livestock, and then little kids playing in their back yards they might reconsider. People making laws that have no clue about how things work. Thinking with their hearts and not thier minds
