Wolves are big, but not that big. Of the 74 wolves shot in MT during our last wolf season, the heaviest one was 117. They do get a bit bigger in AK tho. But hey, who doesn't like to see a bunch of dead wolves???

They do get to 180lbs a 16 yr old kid got one that weighed in right at 180 up the st. joe during the season a couple years ago that was weighed and certified by f and g. But i dont care if they are 18lbs or 180lbs shoot them all.

And FWIW that second wolf was shot in Alberta.
The important thing is they all look good dead

The first two pics are photo shopped or the guys holding the wolf are 4'10". Still some big dogs. They look good dead..

fully mature canadian greys average 90-110 for males and 75-100 for females, that is over half of all mature adults are in that weight range. weights up to 130 are large but not unusual. past that weight is freak of nature huge and not normal. that said it doesn't matter what size they are they are not native to the yellowstone region nor OR, UT or WI, MN or MI and should be exterminated. IF wolves are to be introduced to a region they should be the type that originally lived there (like the reds in NC). nonnative invasive species should never be introduced on purpose by anyone but least of all by Govt officials that SHOULD know better.

I agree Pops, but lets not forget Washington too. Something that we are going to be dealing with in the next few years I'm sure. Haven't heard of many problems here yet but we have wolves and once we get multiple packs in an area the poor hounds are gonna be hurtin.

How is it that the Gov. can introduce a non-native species like this and call it a re-introduction?

Even the data kept on the wolves released into Yellowstone reveals several wolves that were 138-139 pounds at the time of their release...and these are wolves that had been on the USFWS version of the South Beach Diet...receiving barely sufficient viddles while in captivity.
Plus, you don't think USFWS went to the expense they did to bring in truly mature wolves of 8 to 10 years old do you?

Those that outfit hunts in northern Alberta and Saskatchewan who have had a number of clients tag wolves that weighed 140 to 150 pounds...and that's where these wolves came from.

Those of you reading this, and disputing their size are spouting info from the Defenders of Wildlife wolf-lovers handbook.
What separates one wolf subspecies from another is primarily their size...and the Canis lupus columbianus...Canis lupus occidentalis...and Canis lupus griseoalbus subspecies illegally (violating the Endangered Species Act) brought here by USFWS are all classified as "large wolves" - meaning at maturity, adult males commonly weigh 130 to 140 pounds (with some topping that).

The wolf that was native here was Canis lupus irremotus, a "medium wolf" - meaning that at maturity, adult males commonly weighed 75 to 80 pounds.

If this true, Why hasn't anybody filled a law suit to stop it?

I just read where they imported 10 Texas Mointain Lions to Florida to add genetic deversity to there "endangered Florida Panther", wouldn't this make them Florida/Texas hydrids and know longer Endaingered?
