folks, these are the key players in salem that we need to target. If we can get a couple thousand calls and emails into them we might be able to get enough votes to pass the bill. stick to the talking points, direct to the point.
When you call the Senators to ask for their support on HB 2337:
Tell them that the professionals at the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife should be allowed to responsibly manage cougar populations.
Tell them that if they don't support this bill that our elk and deer populations will continue to be decimated and that cougar populations will continue to be out of control and pose a serious threat to human safety.
Please also tell them that the ODFW is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to pay government hunters to kill cougars instead of being able to collect more money for wildlife conservation from the sale of more cougar tags.
Tell them that this isn't a debate over cougar hunting or the use of dogs as both are being done now. This bill will only allow the ODFW to effectively manage cougar populations and collect money to do it instead of spending money.
Tell them that the ODFW will be able to have complete control over cougar management and there will be oversight by the ODFW Commission which is appointed by the Governor.
Please call or email the following Senators and make sure to be kind and thoughtful:
Senator Peter Courtney
503-986-1600
sen.petercourtney@state.or.us
Senator Lee Beyer
503-986-1706
sen.leebeyer@state.or.us
Senator Laurie Monnes-Anderson
503-986-1725
sen.lauriemonnesanderson@state.or.us
Senator Rod Monroe
503-986-1724
sen.rodmonroe@state.or.us
Senator Floyd Prozanski
503-986-1704
sen.floydprozanski@state.or.us
Senator Alan Bates
503-986-1703
sen.alanbates@state.or.us
The bill needs 20 votes in the Senate to pass so we need to get as much support as possible. The anti-hunters are working very hard and spreading lies about hunters and cougar management so we need to act fast.
Thanks,
support oregon h.b. 2337
