Re: Measure 18/ pilot program
Marshall, You got my interest.. So I had to go and check it out I think your Reading into that too much. There are a couple issues with that piece that I wouldn't Get your hopes up.
I could only find an editorial (So basically that's just one of the readers that wrote in an Opinion piece that they printed),
The quote you speak of was basically the author stating that Rep was Saying that the Day after "something bad happens" that it would be in the Legislation. Not that they are going into special session to Repeal BM 18 anytime soon.
The author was basically saying that it would be wise to Look at these three Options on the table rather than wait for a cougar attack which would give the ammo needed to Repeal BM 18.

Re: Measure 18/ pilot program
i believe that was if they dont open a pilot program right now and later down the line someone gets ate by a kitty.
And with more cougars and more people out in the countryside, it is not unreasonable to suppose that one of these days, something very bad will happen.
That’s when, as Rep. Brian Clem of Salem says, the legislature will go into special session the next day and repeal the dog ban outright

Re: Measure 18/ pilot program
DAMN!!!!!! I guess i just read what i want to see about this issue lol. Thanks for the clarification. I have heard and did see a pic of a woman in scio that was attacked by a lion the other day but im guessing that is prolly a hoax. But, if its not then the legislatures better get thier asses behind those closed doors and get with it

Re: Measure 18/ pilot program
I feel that this is exactly why I am against the pilot program. Without it the cougar plan can't financially survive and ODFW will have to try to figure out a different way to try to fix the mess that measure 18 has caused. If the pilot program goes through public hunters will be used to make the cougar plan a success then we will have nothing again. A local ODFW official made the comment to a friend of mine saying the only reason hound guys weren't for the pilot program is because they wanted a home run when a home run wasn't possible. I say why swing for a double if there is no chance of ever getting home, I'd rather swing for the fences. With that aside I would like to send an atta boy to the ODFW for killing a couple of problem wolves in the Joseph area. They wasted no time after losing federal protection and showed the public that theyr'e going to play ball with the wolf issue.
