bay dogs

Post by stevemac »

Just a question for the bay dog guys and I guess this goes for other bg game as well as hogs and that would be what is the optuim number of dogs to get the job done and have plenty of room around a hog to save the dogs getting cut up.

just my opinion& worth what you paid for it, but most dogs get hurt the worst when there is more than 3 dogs.

It depends on the type of dogs you are using. The less the better in my opinion.
For me and the type of dogs I use, two to three is a good number. Any more than that and they will start catching out wether I'm there or not. Not a good thing on a big hog.
I have seen 5-8 good bay dogs pull it off time and again without a scratch but they were loose baying and not rough.

Like the others said, 2-3 when I hunt on my own. If I hunt with a buddy we sometimes bring four. Sometimes we let them all out, sometimes not. It just depends on which dogs we have and how much country we want to cover.
