Benny thanks for the info. When you stated earlier that they were still using Pueblo Park rd. and by looking at the fire maps I am sure my friend is all right.

I was getting ready to go to The Blue to haul cattle over the mountain with pick ups and trailers, but at the last minute the District Ranger from the Forest Service agreed to let the cattle graze down the river and onto another allotment that hasn't been used for several years.

Steve Smith called about an hour ago to report that for now, Larry Hendrix's place is safe. They built quite a fire line with D 10's about 2 miles west of Larry's place, and for now, it's holding.

The wind is supposed to pick back up tomorrow, so it's anybody's guess as to how things will end up.

Three days ago the fire turned back on it's heels and made another run at Alpine. So far, everything in that area seems to be good.

The fire continues to grow to the south, as there haven't been as many efforts made in that direction because the wind has been driving it north with such fierceness.

The residents of Eagar that live on the south side of town were put back on a pre-evacuation notice today, after just getting back home on Sunday. The fire has grown to over 490,000 acres, and still growing! Its going to be a sad sight for those of us that spend time in that country to see, when we get our first looks at it. Hunting lions won't be the same for years to come, either.

To all those effected by this horrific fire. My heart truly breaks for you. Benny is right lion hunting will never be the same in those ranges nether will anything else. People need to wake up, but instead they will say that the cause was people and they're right. the dumb shit that left an unattended fire and the bureaucrats the catered to the pressure of environmentalism that have allowed the fuels to get to the point a fire can grow to over four hundred thousand acres shame on them.

Hey, BigNBlue,
Are you keeping track of this? This dang fire is up to 495,000 acres. Last night it was active in Grant Creek. Damn near ALL of my favorite haunts on the west side of the river are shot in the ass !!

The fire is now over 511,000 acres. the fire jumped containment lines on the highway between Alpine & Luna, Luna was evacuated yesterday. The fire is gaining activity on the southern and eastern sides, and has reached Blue River. It is very active in KP, Steeple, and Grant Creek. This thing is the drizzling sh!1s!!

Benny G, yes I have been keeping up with it with a heavy heart. I just hope the fine people that live down on the Blue are safe.

David, I just now got off the phone with Barb. They've been busy hauling cattle to Pie Town. They have a meeting at the school @ 2:00 today, you should be able to reach them by phone this evening after dark. It's been dicey from time to time, and it's not over yet, but the phones are working again.

Talked to Barbara Marks yesterday and she said that everyone was alright on the Blue.
That the firefighters have done a wonderful job of protecting all the homes and outbuildings and that everyones prayers have been appreciated. She said that the homes that were most threatened were the Downs ranch and Doc Luces place but they were both saved. Please keep the prayers headed their way and maybe there will be a silver lining in this tragedy.

yeah that was fun wasn't it? one of my places still hasn't seen a single drop of rain. those dead trees and sterilized grounds sure speak volumes about the methods being used. let the cattle in and clear half the fuels usefully then let permittee responsibly remove some more.
