I don't think you'll get very far Suing Garmin. Like it was mentioned It's really not their problem. It would be nice to have them not affected by VHF radios so much, I don't use them but I hear from allot of Folks that do and It's a Pain in the Ass..

I guess the question would be, why not sue the VHF radio manufacture, since it was their Equipment that caused the damage? At least that would be the first question I think a Judge would probably want to know?

I don't expect Garmin to even comment if they've fixed it or made it better on the 320, for allot of reasons. One being that it's mostly illegal to use those radios so I doubt they would be Willingly encouraging people to break the law, or even hint that it's ok to do it, so even if they did fix them, I doubt they would even comment on the issue. My only hope is I think they would have a vested interest in fixing it, Not for you, but because I'm sure it cost them allot of money in Warranty work.. so that's the hope is that they make it better to save them money in their repair department! I think the bottom dollar would get more attention than a lawsuit, but I'm not sure.

Why are they illegal? The marine band or just using a ham without a license??

Also, whoever asked about the marine on low. Supposedly it doesn't fry them (not instantly anyway!) but ours are replaced/repaired about twice a year. I'm thinking it's slowly frying them, just not at the rate that putting it on high will!

If you live along the coast it is illegal to use the marine frequencies on dry land, within 250 miles of the water. (I think don't quote me on the distance). In the interior though it is legal to use them.

I unhook my LR antenna (so there is no antenna on the garmin) and walk 15-20 feet away when I want to talk on the radio. When I'm in the truck with the astro, I turn the radio off. It works for me. I also hunt alone alot though....I'll be pissed the day someone drives by using a Marine or CB and fries my garmin on the side of the road.
