gps ?

Post by mondomuttruner »

What is this,( quad-band Realtime GPS GSM GPRS Tracker TRACKING SYSTEM ) It's made to put in a car. Someone with a little more technical knowledge should look into it. It says you can get real time tracking on google earth. Sounds like you might need cell service but I'm not sure.

What, nobody wants to comment? Looks like something you could possibly strap to a collar. Look it up on ebay. 90 hour batt life, 60 some bucks.

It's a vehicle GPS tracking device. Lot's of issues to use those on Dogs.

A couple huge problems I would see
You'd need buy a cell phone plan for each collar to use it
You would need a computer and Internet because that's most likely where your going to have to view the tracks is over the internet.

It probably only updates ever 15minutes or so.

I've had the Vehicle GPS tracking stuff and they just won't do for Dogs.

figured a few guys are wanting to watch a race on a laptop through the garmin, with the car gps you watch it on google earth. Never thought about the slow update rate.
Cell phone? its only money.
Thanks for a reply anyways.

The 320 will have pretty much the Google Earth setup.. except it's called Bird's Eye View, My guess is it's the same images that Google earth uses.

I'm not debating what your asking or the thought about trying to come up with something else, It's worth a Try and for 60 bucks you wouldn't be out very much at all heck that's less than 1 tank of Fuel today.

I just don't think it would work very well.

wouldn't work for me anyways, no cell service anywhere I hunt. Thought someone else might want to do some experimenting.
