So tell me a story UTAH guys...Lion check in?

Talkin with the udwr they feel that anybody on hand can check in a harvested lion.

I spoke with one of our local guides yesterday he claims 80% of the time they just ask what sex it is. So they never actually verify sex of the cat. With the female subquota coming this will be a major problem!!!

Have any of you had this happen or is this just fantasy land???

My father in law got a big tom and took it in a few years ago. He never weighed it but said it was around 180lbs, the fish cop tagged it as a female.

Every lion I have taken in they have checked for sex on all of them. One female we took in I had skinned down the back, the game warden ran his hands up and down the cut I had made down the back bone feeling for nipples, he didn't find any and I didn't say anything.... lol she was dry anyway

I would start looking in to the old records of the sex of the lions that have been checked in thru out all the units. I know for a fact what we have check in and you know what I mean. I do remember the DWR. Stating in their report a few years back that most were females(not true at all). From my understanding and maybe you can correct me! I would rather nobody shoot a female and if they want to check them in as females doesn't the ball land in the ethical houndsmens mitt?

Well either the UDWR is checkin these cats in proper OR nobody wants to admit killin a fe-male!

Either way guys make sure they get it right NOW IT MATTERS!!!!

With our poor lion management and all the females getting killed our lion hunting days are coming to an end. All of us that absolutely will not kill a female are sadly out numbered by either greedy weasels looking for a buck or people that just plain don't give a damn about our sport. I have been hunting dogs for twenty years and for my family and I, wife, kids, nieces and nephews it's a love for us we take pride in it. I am thankful to all the houndsmen that treat it for how awesome it truly is and give it respect. For all the rest that either do it for a buck or for just killing something could you maybe find another hobby and leave this one alone before it becomes history. There are some of us that truly love it.
