Black and Tan Bear Dogs

Post by bay'emup »

I'm looking for anyone in Idaho, Utah, Or Wyoming that has Black and Tan pups, started or finished bear dogs. I realize that this breed isn't real popular in this area for bears, but the style of hunting I like to do requires some characteristics that black and tan hounds seem to have. I've tried som in years past, been told that they were nice bear dogs, and found out they weren't. I prefer to rig hunt and cast my dogs on timbered ridgelines and canyons. Bait is legal and effective in Idaho, but since I've been rigging and casting I've spent a lot more time hunting and tons less time aquiring bait, hauling barrels, filling baits, checking camera's, ect., ect.,. Many lines of hounds in my area are being bred for warmer noses because they get hunted off of freshly hit baits and don't require cold-trailing ability. I have no problem with this type of hunting, I personally find it more satisfying to have my dogs find the bear on their own and work the trail on their own without having me lead them right to it. Anyway, if anyone out there knows of or has some black and tans (pedigree is not important) that are rockstar bear dogs, let me know.

Thanks for the info fellas. My search has been going on for a few years now and i felt like some outside help was neccesary.Chris-nice looking dogs, a little far but I'll keep you in mind. Those dogs look full of hate for the bears. Timothy-I've got a call in to Duncan. I've heard a lot about those lines, but had trouble getting a hold of any of them.

I have a bitch dog named cully out at kens place with 8 pups. Try one out and if it does not pass your test i will give your money back. Ken will vouch for dog. Mother of cully is a bobcat killer. Sire is the real deal. I know that it takes alot of time to get a hound finished, and time is money. Well i would say if the pup is not treeing turn loses at 24 weeks then call. And i also have the same cross as cully write now that are 5 weeks today These dogs catch game. Thanks for reading and if intrested in one of these pups call ken or myself. THANK YOU 1860 309 7015.
