Lady luck
Well my wife and I had a baby sitter for my11 year old and she wanted to go cat hunting with me so I said lets go. We stared off at day break I put the strike dogs on the ground and the struck right where I was going to let them empty out .They jumped in about 5 min and the race was on cats and fox use this area and you cant see tracks but very seldom because the grass grows over the roads but on with the story. They had been running about 10 min and I looked up the paved farm to market road and I saw the fox run across the road about a half mile down the road is us hwy 431 4 lane and the fox or cats dont usually run close to there but this mourning I could tell was going to be different well they ran him about 10 more min. and he crosses the road again about two hundred yards from the 4 lane I told my wife I cant take this we have got to catch the dogs the fox may cross the next time so that is what we did. I told her we w0uld go south in that same block and see if we could find acat. Iturned the 5 strike dogs out it is about 6:30 a.m. the dogs start down the road in front of the truck and I see sugar and redman turn off the road . I just keep easing on down the road watching the other hounds switching in the ditches like they could get a wiff of something. It had been about 10 min since I had seen sugar and redman So I stoped the truck and got out pourd me a cup of water when I heard sugar open 3 or 4 times she moves down the draw about 100yds. and opens 3or 4 more times. about that time old bear cuts in front down the road the same direction sugar is going when he strikes . Then tide stikes then mattie well the race is on redman hits I turn my puppies out and my wife says there is the cat this is my wifes first cat race. I turned the 11 month old pups out perfect they fall right in on the cat the older dogs and pups all together man what a race 6 trained dogs and 3 pups. Well theyhave water on both side of the road about onehalf acre beaver pond so this is perfect need water to keep the dogs cooled down. Whenthe cat crossed the road again

Re: Lady luck
The cat crossed right by my wife all the dogs packed up the puppies and all Well the cat swam the pond we got to se that when one of the pups was trying to get across when the cat had turned and swam right back by the pup that is all he needed he sailed of in there after the cat well then the pack all got right back together when here the cat crosses the road again right by the truck it is extremly thick so the pups had started having a little trouble in the water and the thick briars . The cat had crossed the road again and pupies comming out trying to get back in the race when the cat had squatted. We had about a thirty sec loose when the pups stumbled in on the cat well the race was back on sounded like you had a stick beating those pups man they were yelling out well the old dogs got back in there and the pack is back together well the cat swimms the pond on that side my wife and I are seeing every bit of this standing on the road. Well the cat swimes over to a bush and grabs hold of a limb she is still in the water. Well bear is the first dog across he goes right by her when he sees he missed her he turns following his nose and then well you know what happened then all the pups and everybody as my wife enjoyed this hunt. It makes washing out dog kennels lots easyier. Good huntingRobert

Re: Lady luck
sounds like a great hunt, I couldn't have that good of a cat hunt if I had a cat in a cage ready to release lol lol.
Re: Lady luck
Thank you for the great story.
Maybe you better tell your wife no she cant go again. Make her beg a little more. That is what I do with my pups after they have an amazing hunt ha ha. Let them think about it for a little while. Keep them wanting more
.
I dont know how you could ever give her another hunt like that one, but right now, all your hunting makes sense to her.
Maybe you better buy that piece of sacred ground and put up a historical marker with the above story on it. I would go there.
Or just print off this story so you can review it when you get home from one of those other kind of hunts ha ha.
That was amazing. Thanks again.
