Re: cats got them all.
i agree with u .they have already arrested 120 people on the westside.and that is alot of mouths to feed.i think that REALLY is the problem with the deer herd .i wish we could just blame it on the cats.but that is not correct.it is a good point to throw at the fish and game,to lets us have a season though.it all comes down to flat out miss management.but it makes for a good conversation.

bein from colorado i dont know if this applies to cali but as a logger myself i have noticed that if u log a place relatively void of elk and deer they magically appear in large numbers to feed on the tops of the trees that are fell and very rarely wander very far away i have even skidded trees that deer were eatin the tops of when i started to drag them away logging has a positive if any effect on the deer but this isnt a deer forum so i will stop there just a little aggrevating to hear someone blame logging for their deer problem

If it is the same picture I read about it was from Eastern Washington, verified by Game biologists. Heres the link to the cats spotted in Wa.

I agree with this as logging and fires do nothing but open the woods and provide feed for years to come, I know the moss on the trees when felled are like candy to the elk and deer.muzzy wrote:bein from colorado i dont know if this applies to cali but as a logger myself i have noticed that if u log a place relatively void of elk and deer they magically appear in large numbers to feed on the tops of the trees that are fell and very rarely wander very far away i have even skidded trees that deer were eatin the tops of when i started to drag them away logging has a positive if any effect on the deer but this isnt a deer forum so i will stop there just a little aggrevating to hear someone blame logging for their deer problem

See that is what i am talking about someone who is uneducated says some negative crap about logging and fires because the deer numbers are low and then there out telling every family member and friend they have and all of a sudden word is spreading that logging is hurting the deer and all the God damn hippie tree huggers are out to stop something that is actually beneficial. Also I know exactly about the problems with a race of people killing everything that moves and keeping every fish they catch no matter what size or what kind of fish. This problem is getting bigger and bigger and spreading. Yet if you got a dog box your the bad guy. Its bullshit.
