Curs and Catahula
Curs and Catahula
Does anyone prefer curs and mixed up dogs like this for yote doggin?
Re: Curs and Catahula
curs are mostly used as decoy dogs. they go out and challenge the resident coyote packs. they chase the coyotes that come out to answer the challenge then turn and run from them so they chase them. they do this back & forth until they bring the coyote in good range of the shooter. good decoy dogs should finish the coyote if the shooter makes a poor shot.

Re: Curs and Catahula
I use reg. busher breed curs to run them. I used hounds but i have found in these mountains that my odds is better with curs.they will start a fight with a yote. while i try to get a shot and if he runs they run him all day or untill i can stop him at a crossing. i have some pictures of them on some post they bay, and they hold a yote at bay untill i can get a shot at the yote. All my curs are open mouth on the track. they just dont bark they bite too. with the hounds i used they gave me more bark then bite. i need a dog to stop that yote insteed of runing him to the next county.

That is really awesome, out here in the flats there a a few people that run yotes with sight chase dogs (wolf-hounds and such) but we usually run curs on trap lines or with hounds on bear, coons, etc. Just curious, I just had a mixed up Lep. Cur/bluetick/black mouth cur (good dog) throw a litter with a lab sire that had just a tip of pit in him. Got some high hopes for the pups but got 14 of them little runts on the first try.
