I’ve been living in Montgomery, Texas for the last eight years, and have been without a hound for a few more. A transplant from Okeechobee, Florida where I did most of my coon and cat hunting.
Hoping to get started again (with my better halves permission and encouragement) and was wondering if there is a decent bobcat population in the Grimes, Montgomery, Brazos Co areas, and anyone on the board that might run them.
Any help in getting this old (er) “once upon a time” hunter and shameless lurker headed in the right direction would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I thought that someone else would jump on this but since they have not, here's my two cents. Yes, there are a few cats in that country but it is not South Texas. The biggest problem with that area, in my opinion is that land is really fragmented and places are really small. Lots of roads and lots of traffic. There are a few larger ranches there but gaining access can be difficult.
Good luck and Adios,

Something I've learned on this forum..... It seems like there are successful hound guys all over the place in Texas. You can ask anything about hunting/hounding and get some responses. The minute you ask to tag along with someone....... You can hear a rat piss on cotton.

You are 30 miles or less from the Sam Houston national forest. (100,000 plus acres).
You where able to hunt hogs with dogs until last year but there is lots of coons and bobcats with very little hunting pressure.
There is a coon hunting club that you can find in Coon hound magazine.

JTG tomtom and Gary,
I really appreciate the help. And sorry for the late reply.
A Neanderthal with the computer so when it went down, I had get my wife to fix the sucker (fortunately, computers and their inner goings on are a significant part of her job or I would have shot the thing a long time ago) <bg>
Have received several private messages to boot and I want to thank everyone for their input and advice.
