Post by Buddyw »

Short version
Anti's have consided that this will pass the senat and are Flooding the governor to Veto it with an all out assault. (Mind you, it hasn't even passed the senate yet, but they are sure that it will and have given up on pushing the senate and gone straight to the governor for veto..)

The direct line telephone number for the Governor's Office is (360) 902-4111 and her FAX number is (360) 753-4110.

LONG VERSION for those who are interested in the details.

Subject: IMMEDIATE ACTION NEEDED: HB 2438 (Hound hunting of Cougars)

Ladies and gentlemen

The vote count on HB 2438 is complete and the replies from Senators you've been forwarding have made that job easier to manage -- thank you. I now know that we have the votes to pass HB 2438 with a comfortable margin. The animal rights opponents to HB 2438 have reached the same conclusion as they have basically reduced their campaign to defeat the bill on the floor to a token effort. The pull from the Rules Committee this afternoon straight to the Senate Flash Calendar probably helped to convince the AR's they had a problem on their hands (from their perspective) in stopping the bill on the floor of the Senate. How do I know that?

Every animal rights network in Washington State erupted this afternoon with a "call to arms" targeting the office of the Governor with a veto HB 2438 message within twenty minutes after the bill was pulled from Rules to the Senate floor.

One of our allies (a Cattlemen's Association representative here in Olympia) called this afternoon with information confirming what I'm seeing on the AR Networks. He spoke with someone in the Governor's Office earlier today and was informed that they are seeing emails coming in at a fair clip calling for a veto of HB 2438. Bottom line? We and our allies won round one. This is round two and we have very solid information as to what message we need to convey to the Office of the Governor.

What needs to Happen: It's absolutely critical that support for HB 2438 be communicated to Governor Gregoire. Individuals can go to the web site for the Governor at http://www.governor.wa.gov/contact/default.asp and simply fill out the comments form - and more than one person in your household can do the same. The message can be as simple as please support HB 2438 and the form at the web site includes a public safety category to make it even easier. The direct line telephone number for the Governor's Office is (360) 902-4111 and her FAX number is (360) 753-4110. Messages can also be left at the in-state toll-free Legislative Hotline number at 800.562.6000.

Buddy, I will have everyone that I know, which aint many, call and leave comments on her website.

I noticed that when I yahooed the bill that a few of the anti groups came up, one boasting that it had 500 members. I saw a post where there were 1000+ members on this forum. Is there anyway that you could set up a kind of "Pro-Dog/Hunting Action Alert" system for those that chose to participate? Where we could toss around the "weight" and i'm not talking about the weight off the crap in the cage, but we could send out letters similar to this one from the anti's site? http://www.mountainlion.org/upload/HB%2 ... ose-1_.pdf

Or do you have to be a B.S., half assed membership organization/charity that charges you money to send out letters like this?

I think that would be a good idea. We'll have to think about how to do that. Might be able to find a way for people to sign up and register for it, city, state etc.. Would be good to have a member of every state.

Hey thanks for info from my buddy and got me to write her something,

Dear Govener Gregoire,
I am (deaf) and a houndman. Public safety is important to people in washington. We hunt cougar with hound is helpful! Most people in Washington dont understand why we use hounds. I understand why its out of control right now because 1996 banned using hounds and now Cougar population have increased, there are sightings in neighborhoods, by kids walking to the school bus. Its important to keep our families safe. We also need to keep livestock safe for ranchers and their income.

Please Support HB 2438.

here I hope she read it.
