california dog lic ?
Anyone else in ca have to license their dogs ? animal control showed up at my place today and told me i had to license my dogs or pay a fine. $150 a yr if their intact and $12 if they are spayed/nutered.... needless to say mine are still intact and i was hoping to keep it that way, i may want pups from them sometime down the road but theres no way im paying $150 per year per dog

Contra costa county is 40 intact 20 spayed 150 sounds like the fine . Just did my 2 pups to save some headaches down the road. I would contact the county animal control office and see is there is amnesty in your county .

I just had to to all mine in Yuba Co. $24/yr intact, $10/yr altered.... That was a big waste of $240.
Re: california dog lic ?
When I lived in the City limits animal control gave me the same options due to a visit by a disgruntled neighbor complaint. They only knew of 3, so I licensed the cheapest 3 (a couple were altered). Then the next year all three died, on paper anyway.
If you have some paperwork on past spayed females, you might be able to get creative in how you work the system.

just spent an hour on the phone with them and im pretty much screwed , i gotta pay them weather i keep the dogs or not. the only way around it is if i had akc papers on them which is a joke since the akc dosent even reconize walkers as a breed. so to make a long story short i gotta shell out $600 to license my mutts or pay a fine of 2k

Walkers ARE recognized as a breed with AKC, and if the dogs have any type of known pedigree you can single Reg them (until Dec 1st) After Dec 1st then they have to be UKC reg, and you have to do pictures, ect because they are officially in the hound group.
Re: california dog lic ?
how would i even find out if they had any pedigree?

Strange that they would care if it is one registry over any other. Also I am curious why having such papers would change their idea that you owe them fees or fines.
Time to ask around for some AKC walker papers you can borrow, and give all your dogs some new kennel names.
