What brand/type of snowshoes are best?

Post by imchestnut »

What brand/type of snowshoes are best? Say best all around and best in steep terrain? I have a Cabelas brand and I think they suck but they are the only ones I have owned so maybe I am FOS.

I have a old set of Sherpa shoes that were a gift about 15+ years ago.
They sure have worked well and are as tough as they get. The binding is real simple and also can be used to lash them to my pack.
Not sure if you can get them anymore but I'd buy a spare set if I could find them like these.

MSR is what I use. They are pretty pricey but well worth the money

Walker breeding at it's best

Our choice is as simple as Black and White

I use MSR evo's. The cheaper ones. Around 100 bucks. They work good for me.

I have a pair of the MSR ascents with the flotation tails. they are nice they let you customize their surface area and flotation for the weight you're carrying or type of snow. and they came with a bag that it all stores in you can strap it to your pack or on your back. and the traction rails are unreal no sliping or sliding around just dont step on your dog. they dont like it much......
